Organ Donation Awareness Talk at the Govt. Boys Hostel, Nagpur

MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Vijaya Badge, warden of Santha Chokhamala Government boys Hostel to sensitize to students on organ donation. The event was held on 15th December 2013. Mr. Bulu Behera and Ms. Kanchan Shewde, Transplant coordinators of MOHAN Foundation conducted the event.

 

Mr. Bulu gave a presentation how organs can be donated after death. He emphasized the need of understand that a brain dead person can never come back to life. Such people can help several people to live. After brain death, organ donation is possible if patient’s relative agree. He explained the importance of Donor Card.

 

24 participants signed the pledge form. The talk was followed by a lively questions and answer session. Some points of discussion were:

  1. How can  blind person get eye?.
  2. Which organ transplant is possible in Nagpur?
  3. Can HIV positive patients donate his organ?
  4.  In postmortem  case are they retrieving organ?

 

Ms. Kanchan  answered the queries.
