On December 24, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, conducted an awareness session on organ donation at the Eye Outpatient Department (OPD) of the New OPD Block, RIMS Imphal.
The session was led by Program Executive Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, along with Program Executive Mr. Victor Rajkumar from MOHAN Foundation Imphal, and was organised in collaboration with Ms. Chongtham Pritam Devi, Medical Social Worker (Assisting Transplant Program), RIMS Imphal, as part of ongoing public education initiatives.
Ms. Priya began the session by introducing the team and engaging with the participants. She provided an overview of the organs and tissues that can be donated and clearly explained the difference between living organ donation and deceased organ donation. She emphasized the critical importance of deceased organ donation in saving and transforming lives.
She also highlighted the current status of organ donation and transplantation in Manipur, informing attendees that kidney and cornea transplantation services are presently available. Addressing commonly held fears, she reassured participants that cornea retrieval after death does not cause facial disfigurement. She also clarified myths and misconceptions around organ donation, stressing its humanitarian significance and ability to offer hope to individuals suffering from organ failure.
Participants were encouraged to consider registering as organ donors and were advised to communicate their decisions to family members. Informational pamphlets were distributed to reinforce key messages and further address questions.
Approximately 30 individuals attended the session and gained valuable insights into the life-saving impact of organ donation.
