On December 14, 2025, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, an Organ Donation Ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, delivered an organ donation awareness talk to the parishioners of St. Francis Xavier Church in the scenic village of Pirna, Colvale, Goa.

Previously, Mr. Gabriel had conducted an awareness session for the priests of the Mapusa Deanery under the Archdiocese of Goa. This initiative led to an invitation for the MOHAN Foundation to conduct organ donation awareness talks across 12 parishes. To date, he has successfully completed sessions in five parishes, with seven more scheduled in the coming months.

During the session, Mr. Gabriel introduced himself as an Organ Donation Ambassador and shared his mission to educate and encourage people to say yes to organ donation. He motivated the attendees to help spread this crucial message within the wider community.

He covered key topics, including the fact that organs can only be donated by a person who is declared brain dead, while individuals who pass away at home can contribute as tissue donors. He explained tissue donation options such as skin, corneas, and whole body donation.

Mr. Gabriel also highlighted the role of the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) in Goa and shared information on the number of patients currently on the organ transplant waiting list in the state. He noted that, at present, kidney and corneal transplants are the only transplant procedures carried out in Goa.

At the conclusion of the session, flyers containing frequently asked questions were distributed to all 50 attendees.

Mr. Gabriel concluded the session by expressing his sincere gratitude to Fr. Alvito Cardzo, OFM Cap, Parish Priest of St. Francis Xavier Church, for providing the opportunity to address the community on the important subject of organ donation.
