Awareness Session on Eye Donation Conducted at Ayara, Tal Jawhar

On 19th November 2025, MOHAN Foundation’s representative, Ms. Prachiti Mali, conducted an awareness session on eye donation for the general public at Ayara in Tal Jawhar. The session aimed to educate community members about the significance of eye donation and to clarify misconceptions surrounding the process.

Ms. Prachiti explained the essential concepts of eye donation, including corneal blindness, its causes, precautionary measures, and the age-related criteria for donating eyes. She also discussed the legal aspects involved in the donation process and addressed several widely believed myths to ensure that participants received correct and reliable information.

A total of 56 community members attended the session, and 4 individuals pledged to donate their eyes. The audience actively participated and raised important questions such as, “Is a Donor Card compulsory for donation?” and “What is cornea?” Ms. Prachiti clarified that while a Donor Card expresses one’s intention to donate, it is not mandatory, as the final consent is provided by the family after death. She further explained the structure and function of the cornea and its role in restoring sight through transplantation.

MOHAN Foundation expresses its sincere gratitude to Ayara at Tal Jawhar for supporting the noble cause of organ and eye donation by organizing this informative awareness session.
