On November 28, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness session at Irengbam Thamcha Devi Nursing & Health Care Research Institute (ITD), Uripok, Imphal. The session was led by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (North East) cum Project Lead (Manipur), along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, Mr. Victor Rajkumar and Ms. Moirangthem Priya, Program Executives, MOHAN Foundation.

Mr. Bidyananda welcomed the participants, introduced the MOHAN Foundation team, and provided a brief overview of the session.

Ms. Monica began with an interactive discussion, asking participants about their existing understanding of organ donation. She then delivered a detailed presentation on the current state of organ donation in India and Manipur, along with the process of organ transplantation. Key topics included the importance of organ donation, eligibility, the difference between living and deceased donation, and the organs and tissues that can be donated during life and after death.

She also shared a brief overview of the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994, and highlighted the work of MOHAN Foundation, along with various ways individuals can support the cause. Common myths were addressed, and the distinction between brain death and coma was clearly explained.

In her concluding remarks, Ms. Monica emphasized that organ donation has the power to save lives and encouraged everyone to consider pledging their organs, calling it one of the greatest gifts one can offer. She also engaged with the nursing students, answered their queries, and directed them to the information pamphlets distributed during the session.

A student, Mr. Sinam Rohit Singh, came forward to pledge for organ donation. The session saw active participation from close to 60 nursing students, with one participant pledging to become an organ donor.
