On November 27, 2025 - A resilient and highly successful organ donation awareness session was conducted at the Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) in Merkhanpet. Despite facing several challenges, including the school’s remote location, transportation issues, a brief power outage, and rain, the program proceeded smoothly.

The initiative, led by Project Manager Mr. Venkatesh Kattela, featured two engaging presentations that successfully reached over 258 students and faculty members from Grades 6 to 10. The enthusiastic support and dedication from the Principal and teachers were crucial in ensuring the session’s impact despite the difficult circumstances.

The presentations covered all vital components of organ donation, providing attendees with clear, accurate information:

• The definition and various types of organ donation.
• The essential distinction between brain death and cardiac arrest.
• The significance of carrying a donor card.
• The procedural aspects of the consent process.
• Common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation.
• The pressing societal need for organ donation.

A major highlight was the robust question-and-answer segment, where students displayed deep curiosity, asking thoughtful questions that included complex queries on:

• Unrelated organ donation procedures.
• Whole-body donation.

These advanced questions demonstrated the success of the session in inspiring deeper thought about the subject.

We are delighted that many students and faculty members came forward to pledge their support for this life-saving cause. The commitment was particularly strong among the staff, with 13 members of faculty and staff formally pledging to donate their organs.

This successful engagement at ZPHS Merkhanpet underscores the community's commitment to generosity, proving that neither distance nor weather can deter the spread of this vital message.
