On November 26, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted awareness talk on organ donation at the Eye Out-Patient Department (OPD) of JNIMS as part of the ongoing public education sessions. The session was led by Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, along with Mr. Victor Rajkumar, Program Executive, and Ms. Priya Moirangthem, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Arun, Senior Resident, Department of Ophthalmology, JNIMS, and Mr. Gailian Kamei, Transplant Coordinator, JNIMS. Dr. Arun introduced the concepts of cornea donation and deceased organ donation, highlighting the potential of donated organs to save lives and improve the quality of life for countless individuals.

Mr. Bidyananda further explained the types of organs that can be donated and clearly distinguished between living and deceased donations. He emphasized that buying or selling organs is a punishable offence under the law. He also reassured participants that corneas can be retrieved after death without causing disfigurement, addressing a common concern among families. Additionally, he dispelled myths that religions prohibit organ donation, reiterating that many teachings uphold saving a life as one of the greatest acts of humanity. He encouraged attendees to consider registering as organ donors and stressed the importance of informing their families and loved ones about their wishes.

Informational pamphlets on organ donation were distributed to reinforce key messages shared during the session. Close to 20 participants actively took part and gained meaningful insights into organ donation and its life-transforming impact.
