Organ Donation Awareness Session at St. Xavier’s High School, Moira, Goa

On November 27, 2025, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, an Organ Donation Ambassador with the MOHAN Foundation, conducted an awareness session on organ donation for students of Classes VIII to X at St. Xavier’s High School, Moira.

Before the session, Gabriel met the Headmistress, who had earlier approved his proposal. She enquired if the session could be conducted immediately, and he agreed.

During the session, Gabriel highlighted the importance of understanding organ donation and explained that without the right information, many people may never consider becoming donors.

Using a PowerPoint presentation, he covered key topics such as:

• Types of death: circulatory and brain death

• Definitions of both types

• Organs and tissues that can be donated in each circumstance

• Organs and tissues transplanted in Goa and the hospitals involved

• The number of people currently on the transplant waiting list

• The roles of SOTTO Goa, ROTTO, and NOTTO

He also played a video explaining brain death and encouraged the students to spread awareness. He reminded them that individuals can register as organ donors only after turning 18.

Gabriel concluded by thanking Headmistress Mrs. Noreen Dias for giving the MOHAN Foundation the opportunity to address the students and teachers on such an important subject.

Around 250 students, along with several teachers, attended the talk.
