On November 20, 2025, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, Organ Donation Ambassador with the MOHAN Foundation, conducted an informative session on organ donation for the members of the Lions Club of Mapusa Suburban, Mapusa, Goa.

Lion Allen Fernandes welcomed Gabriel and informed the club members that, with the support of the Lions Club, the message of organ donation would reach many more people.

Gabriel covered key topics, including the definition of brain stem death and the organs that can be donated. He also explained that in cases of circulatory death, only tissues and the whole body can be donated.

He highlighted that in Goa, kidney and corneal transplants are currently undertaken, and he shared details of the transplant hospitals in the region. He also noted that 83 individuals are presently on the waiting list with SOTTO (State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation).

He emphasised that without a clear understanding of organ donation concepts, it becomes challenging for families to provide informed consent, which is essential for processing organ donations.

Gabriel concluded the session by distributing a list of frequently asked questions on organ donation. He also requested the club president to share a presentation video comprising an animated short film created by Shweta Gupta, an explainer on brain death, and a film on organ donation produced by ROTTO-SOTTO, Mumbai, to further enhance awareness among members.

He expressed his gratitude to President Lion Allen Fernandes and all club members for giving the MOHAN Foundation the opportunity to speak on organ donation and the importance of saving lives.

10 club members attended the talk, and 6 said yes to organ donation by taking the donor cards.
