On November 20, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, Tripura, conducted an awareness program on organ donation at the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura (HFT) Institute of Nursing Science, Indiranagar, Agartala, West Tripura.

MOHAN Foundation was represented by Ms. Nipa Modak, Program Executive.

The primary objective of the session was to educate nursing students on the importance of organ donation, the current need in India and Tripura, and the critical role healthcare professionals can play in promoting this life-saving cause. Ms. Modak began by introducing the mission and activities of MOHAN Foundation, followed by an overview of organ donation—types of donation, organs and tissues that can be donated, and the concepts of brain death and deceased organ donation.

She highlighted the increasing number of organ failure cases and the significant gap between demand and availability. Special emphasis was placed on developments in Tripura since the launch of the organ donation and transplantation program, and on how trained nurses can contribute to awareness-building and counselling.

Ms. Modak also addressed common myths and misconceptions that often prevent families from consenting to donation. The program was well-received, and the institution expressed appreciation for MOHAN Foundation’s efforts in delivering such an informative and motivating session. Informational leaflets on organ donation and donor cards were distributed to reinforce key messages and encourage commitment among the students.

The session concluded with a call to action, urging students to pledge for organ donation and become advocates within their communities. Participants engaged actively, asking questions about procedures, consent, and the role of healthcare professionals in the donation process.

A total of 14 participants attended the program. The event successfully underscored the importance of awareness, informed decision-making, and individual responsibility in promoting organ donation and saving lives.
