Awareness Session on Organ and Tissue Donation at CNI, Nagpur

On October 8, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur, was invited to conduct an awareness session on organ and tissue donation at the Churches of North India (CNI), Nagpur. The program aimed to educate participants on the significance of organ donation and to encourage individuals to take the pledge to donate organs and tissues.

On behalf of MOHAN Foundation, Ms. Neha Sailwar conducted the session and interacted with the participants. She began by introducing the objectives and mission of MOHAN Foundation, highlighting the organization’s efforts in spreading awareness and facilitating organ donation across India.

During the session, Ms. Neha explained the concept of organ and tissue donation, including the types of donors—living and deceased—and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She elaborated on the difference between brain stem death and coma, the legal framework surrounding organ donation, and the importance of timely organ retrieval.

The session also focused on addressing myths and misconceptions that often create hesitation among people about organ donation. Ms. Neha clarified these doubts with factual information and real-life examples. Participants were guided on how to take an organ donation pledge and the importance of communicating their decision with family members.

The program concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where participants actively engaged by asking several thoughtful questions such as:

  • “Can organ donation be done after natural death, or only after brain death?”
  • “Is there any age limit for becoming an organ donor?”
  • “How can family members give consent for organ donation after a person’s death?”
  • “Are there any religious restrictions related to organ donation?”
  • “How can we ensure that the organs are donated ethically and reach genuine recipients?”

Ms. Neha addressed each question in detail, providing clear and informative answers, which helped participants better understand the medical, legal, and ethical aspects of organ donation.

The session was attended by around 25 participants, including members of the CNI congregation and community volunteers. The event received positive feedback, and participants expressed their interest in spreading the message further within their networks.

MOHAN Foundation sincerely acknowledges the support of the Churches of North India, Nagpur, for organizing this awareness session and for their continued collaboration in promoting the noble cause of organ donation.
