MOHAN Foundation Participates in Health Camp with DHS at Maklang |
On September 27, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Manipur, participated in a Health Camp organized under the ongoing Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan at the Primary Health Sub Centre, Maklang, Imphal West. Representing MOHAN Foundation were Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Program Coordinator (Northeast) & Project Lead (Manipur), and Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Program Executive (Senior).
The camp was coordinated by Ms. Romita, Community Health Officer (CHO), along with support staff, and featured a range of services including Digital ABHA ID registration, medicine distribution counters, and screenings for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension and diabetes.
In her session, Ms. Monica emphasized the life-saving importance of organ donation and its role in improving quality of life. She explained the types of donations—living and deceased—while clarifying key concepts such as brain death and coma. She also addressed the demand-supply gap in organ transplantation, explained the process and eligibility for pledging organs, and dispelled common myths with factual, evidence-based information. Participants were encouraged to embrace altruism by pledging their organs and tissues and by informing their families about their decision.
Informational pamphlets on organ and tissue donation were distributed, and a pledge counter was set up. Nearly 60 community members attended the session, with 5 individuals pledging their organs and tissues.
