On September 30, 2025, a Nukkad Natak (street play) on Organ Donation was staged at Triveni Ghat, Rishikesh. The initiative, part of the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan and Angdaan Jeevan Sanjeevi Abhiyaan of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, was organized by Lions Club Rishikesh Devbhumi in collaboration with the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) and MOHAN Foundation (MF). The program aimed to educate the public on the significance of organ donation.

Triveni Ghat, located on the banks of the holy Ganga, is a revered spiritual and cultural hub that attracts thousands of devotees, tourists, and locals every day. Known for its iconic Ganga Aarti and vibrant atmosphere, the ghat served as an ideal location for spreading awareness and engaging the community on such an important cause.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader, MOHAN Foundation at AIIMS Rishikesh. He introduced the theme of the Nukkad Natak, appreciated the efforts of the participating students, and highlighted the life-saving role of organ donation in giving patients with end-stage organ failure a second chance at life.

A compelling street play on organ donation was then performed by the students of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Awas Vikas, Rishikesh. The performance captivated local visitors, tourists, security personnel, and volunteers. Through powerful storytelling and emotional expression, the students conveyed critical messages on the need and process of organ donation.

Dialogues from the Nukkad Natak in the local language:

• “Marta hai shareer, amar hai aatma;

Angdaan se milta hai swayam Parmatma”

“The body may die, but the soul is eternal.

Through organ donation, one attains the divine eternal.”

• “Angdaan hai jeevan ka daan;

Yehi toh hai insaan ki pehchaan.”

“Organ donation is the gift of life.

It defines the best of human strife.”

These dialogues, delivered with deep conviction, helped dispel myths, encouraged reflection, and inspired many in the audience to consider organ donation.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. R. K. Vajpai, Member of Lions Club Rishikesh Devbhumi, who acknowledged the contributions of the students, MOHAN Foundation, Shri Ganga Sabha Samiti, and all attendees.

Approximately 500 people attended the event, making it a resounding success.
