Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Jati Ram Aggarwal Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Rishikesh |
On September 29, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Jati Ram Aggarwal Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Adarsh Nagar, Rishikesh, in association with Lions Club Rishikesh Devbhoomi. The session was organized at the invitation of the school’s Principal, Mr. Guru Prasad Uniyal.
Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader – MOHAN Foundation, posted at AIIMS Rishikesh, served as the resource speaker for the session, and was joined by Mr. Rajiv Arora, President of Lions Club Rishikesh Devbhoomi. The program was attended by students of the school.
The session began with a powerful activity led by Mr. Rajiv, where students were asked to close their eyes and imagine life without vision, helping them realize the value of eye donation.
Following this, Mr. Sanchit engaged the students by inviting them to share what they already knew about organ donation. He then expanded the discussion, covering the following topics in detail: • What organ donation is and its importance • Who can be an organ donor • Living and deceased donation • Organ donation during life and after death • Brain death and how it differs from coma • Eye donation, skin donation, and corneal preservation after death • The Transplantation of Human Organs Act (THOA), 1994 • Whole body donation • Living kidney transplantation facility at AIIMS Rishikesh • Myths and facts about organ donation • Ways individuals can contribute to this noble cause • Goals and objectives of MOHAN Foundation and the Anudaan initiative
Mr. Sanchit concluded the session by highlighting the urgent need for organ donation in India and encouraged the students and staff to discuss the subject with their families, friends, and colleagues before making their decision to pledge.
The program ended with students applauding the efforts of MOHAN Foundation and the Lions Club and expressing their willingness to speak with their families about pledging their organs.
The session was attended by nearly 80 participants.
