On August 13, 2025, an Awareness Session on Organ Donation was conducted by the MOHAN Foundation at ONGC, 11 High, Sion, Mumbai. The session saw the enthusiastic participation of 50 attendees, comprising ONGC employees and staff. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and encourage individuals to make informed decisions about pledging their organs.

The session was led by Ms. Sakshi Kshirsagar  from the MOHAN Foundation, who delivered an informative and engaging presentation. The speaker explained the concept of organ donation, the difference between living and deceased donation, and the need for organ donors in India. Emphasis was placed on how one organ donor can save up to 8 lives, making organ donation one of the most impactful acts of kindness and social responsibility.

Attendees were educated on:

• The functions of vital organs such as the heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, pancreas, and eyes.
• The process of brain stem death, how it differs from coma, and why it is legally and medically recognized as death.
• The procedures for organ and body donation, including how individuals can pledge their organs during a driving license application or directly through a recognized organization.

During the session, 15 donor cards were issued on the spot to participants who pledged their organs, reflecting a positive and immediate impact.

Interactive Q&A Session

The session concluded with a lively question-and-answer segment, during which several insightful queries were raised by participants:

• What is the procedure to donate one’s body or organs after death?.
• Can skin or eye donation be done from home?
• Can a brain death patient recover like a coma patient?
  
  

The session helped reinforce the value and necessity of organ donation among the ONGC employees. Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn and contribute to such a meaningful cause.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the MOHAN Foundation and participating employees, who showed commendable interest and commitment toward the cause of saving lives through organ donation.
