On August 29, 2025, MOHAN Foundation – Nagpur was invited by NSS Coordinator Dr.
Rojo John of St. Francis De Sales (SFS) College, Seminary Hills, Nagpur to conduct an
awareness session on organ and tissue donation. The program was organized in
collaboration with SFS College Association, Christian Service Agency (CSA), and Indian
Medical Association (IMA), Nagpur as part of the inaugural event of the college’s National
Service Scheme (NSS) unit.
The event was inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp, by Principal Dr. Sanjay
Sarwe, Dr. Samir Jahagirdar (Plastic Surgeon & Vice President, IMA Nagpur), Mr. Mozes
Gaur (CSA Coordinator), and Ms. Veena Wathore (Project Manager, MOHAN Foundation).
A large group of first-year B.Sc. students attended the ‘Gift of Life’ sensitization session on
Organ and Tissue Donation.
Dr. Samir Jahagirdar, Chief Guest of the event, delivered a comprehensive talk
through a PowerPoint presentation, where he highlighted the importance of organ
and tissue donation. He also addressed common myths and misconceptions,
encouraging students to become advocates of the cause.
Mr. Mozes Gaur, Guest of Honor, spoke on the significance of corneal and body
donation. He inspired students by citing the example of Lord Jesus Christ’s ultimate
sacrifice, emphasizing the values of selflessness and service within the Christian
community to promote a culture of donation.
Ms. Veena Wathore, representing MOHAN Foundation, explained the step-by-step
process of making an online organ donation pledge and shared details about
training opportunities for students at MOHAN Foundation. She also introduced the
‘Anudaan’ initiative, a funding program that supports economically underprivileged
transplant patients. Through storytelling, she illustrated how financial aid has
transformed the lives of recipients and their families.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where students actively engaged by
asking questions about donation procedures and volunteer opportunities.
The collaborative program not only marked the launch of the NSS unit at SFS College but
also created a meaningful platform to sensitize young students towards the noble cause of
organ and tissue donation.
