On July 29, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in association with Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal-East, Manipur, conducted an awareness session on organ donation at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) of JNIMS. The session was led by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (Northeast) and Project Lead (Manipur), along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, and Mrs. Thaudem Mayarani Devi, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.

The programme was coordinated by Mr. Gailian Kamei, Transplant Coordinator at JNIMS Hospital. The initiative aimed to educate the public about the importance and process of organ donation, and to encourage individuals to consider pledging as organ donors.

Mr. Bidyananda Laishram began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its efforts to promote deceased organ donation in Imphal. He spoke about the concept of organ donation, the different organs and tissues that can be donated, and the distinctions between circulatory and brain death. He also explained the process of certifying brain death and how deceased organ donation can offer a lifeline to patients waiting for a transplant.

In addition, Mr. Laishram provided an overview of the Manipur State Eye Bank and its ongoing contributions to the community. He concluded by encouraging participants to become advocates for the noble cause of organ donation.

At the end of the session, informational pamphlets on organ donation were distributed to all participants to enhance their understanding of the topic. Approximately 120 individuals attended the session and gained valuable insights into organ donation.
