Ms. Sandhiyashree GK, Intern at MOHAN Foundation and an Organ Donation Ambassador, organized an awareness session on Organ Donation and Transplantation on June 22, 2025 at Konambedu to the local SHG members.

The session began with an introduction of MOHAN Foundation and its mission and activities by Mr. Ganesh C,  Senior Project Executive, MOHAN Foundation. Ms Sandhiyashree GK continued with the presentation on Organ Donation and Transplantation. The topics covered at the talk were :

1. Organ Donation and its need
2. Transplant Law in India
3. Understanding Brain death
4. Organs that can be donated during Living and after Death
5. Process of receiving the organs 
6. Myths and facts
7. How to register for organ donation

The session aimed to create awareness on the importance of organ donation, its life-saving potential, and to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding the process. Interactive discussions, informative presentations, and real-life stories were shared to inspire a positive attitude towards organ donation. Ms. Yogashree M, Organ Donation Ambassador distributed pamphlets and everyone pinned the Green ribbon badge and showed their support for organ donation. 

Ms. Sasikala, coordinator of the SHG read a poem about organ donation and pledged their organs. The event received enthusiastic participation, reflecting the growing interest and need for awareness among the community. Participants raised many questions regarding organ donation, and all the doubts and questions were clearly answered. By sharing many real-life stories, Ms. Sasikala, the Self Help Group coordinator inspired the team and encouraged everyone to think about the importance of organ donation. The members of the SHG shared that the information was easy to understand and that they would pass it on to their family and others in their community as well.  Around 45 participants attended the session, around 32 of them took donor cards, making it interactive, informative, and impactful.
