Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Cloudnine Hospital, Vikaspuri, New Delhi

On May 23, 2025, MOHAN Foundation’s NCR office conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Cloudnine Hospital, Vikaspuri, New Delhi. The session was led by Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer at MOHAN Foundation NCR, accompanied by Ms. Sanya Santosh, also a Programme Officer in the NCR office.

 

The session was organized by Ms. Sushmita Sain from the HR department of Cloudnine Hospital. The audience included staff members from various departments such as HR, administration, nursing (ward and ICU), and housekeeping.

 

Ms. Simran began by engaging the participants in an interactive discussion, asking what they already knew about organ donation. She then delivered a presentation explaining the current state of organ donation in India, the basic concepts of organ donation, and how transplants work.

 

To help participants better understand “brain death,” a short educational video was shown, followed by Ms. Simran’s explanation of the steps involved in confirming brain death and its legal significance.

 

Several important topics were covered during the session, including the need for organ donation, who can become a donor, the difference between living and deceased donors, and the types of organs and tissues that can be donated during life and after death. Ms. Simran also spoke about eye donation and how to preserve the cornea after death. She gave a brief overview of the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994, and explained the work of MOHAN Foundation in promoting organ donation and how individuals can support the cause. Common myths and facts about organ donation were discussed, along with the difference between coma and brain death.

 

Ms. Simran concluded the session by emphasizing how organ donation can save lives. She encouraged everyone to consider pledging their organs, highlighting that it is one of the greatest gifts a person can give.

 

The session was attended by around 35 people, who actively participated and appreciated the informative and engaging presentation.
