Organ Donation and Transplantation talk organized at SAKARMA – A Youth Leadership Camp, Trivandrum

On 11th October, 2013 an awareness talk on organ donation and transplantation was held at Mar Gregarious Renewal Centre, Trivandrum. The talk was part of a Youth Leadership Camp – SAKARMA which was organized by the Kerala State Youth Welfare Board. The Board invited Mrithasanjeevani - Kerala State Deceased Organ Donation Programme to conduct the session.

 

Dr. Noble Gracious, Nodal Officer, Mrithasanjeevani spoke to the gathering about the importance of organ donation; difference between brain death, cardiac death and coma; the organs that can be donated; the importance of carrying a donor card; about Mrithasanjeevani and how the particpants can help promote the cause.

 

Around 100 members participated in the session. At the end, every single one of them pledged their organs by filling Form No. 5 (Donor Registration Form) and handed it over to Dr. Gracious. They also picked the donor card and promised to carry it with them. Further; they expressed their wish to support Mrithasanjeevani.
