On 24th May 2020, Ms Pratima Phadatare (Transplant Coordinator) working at B.J. Medical College and Sasoon Hospital, Pune organized an online awareness session on Organ Donation for a social workers group in Pune.
Dr Jimmy Gupta introduced MOHAN Foundation’s Mission, Vision and then she explained the concept of organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death i.e. cardiac death and brain death. She explained about brain death declaration through the Apnoea test and the procedure of deceased organ donation and living organ donation. She elaborated the procedure of skin, eye and bone donation.
Ms Pratima Phadatare took over by explaining the Barriers of organ donation i.e. myths and facts related to Organ Donation and how it impacts Organ Donation. She also explained about the Donor Card and how one can become an Organ Donor. She then elaborated the various volunteering activities conducted by MOHAN Foundation for volunteers that are interested to support the noble cause of organ donation.
About eight members attended the session & pledged online to become an Organ Donor. We convey a special thanks to all the participants for their presence and motivation to support the cause of organ donation.
