  Mr. Kannan, 39, an employee in a leather company led a happy life with his wife and three children. But their happiness came to a standstill, when he met with an accident. Mr. Kannan was initially admitted to a private hospital in Chennai, but was then shifted to the Government General Hospital, as the family was unable to bear the expenses incurred at the private hospital. Unfortunately, he had suffered a severe head injury and was declared brain dead in the Government General Hospital. His wife gave her consent for organ donation in the midst of this monumental tragedy and enabled her husband's life to be passed on to six different people. Kannan is now immortal.
