On 13^th July 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Commandant, Col Sajal Jainto conduct awareness talk on organ donation for their NCC Cadets, 09 ANO’s, 07 JCO’s. Around 400 Cadets from 15 schools and 3 colleges of Punjab participated in the program.

 

Col Sajal Jain addressed the audience telling them about how important is Organ Donation and the need for organ donors has never been greater. There are far more people in need of a transplant than there are people willing to donate an organ.

 

Firstly, Ms. Aakriti Negi introduced herself to the participants and after that she asked the questions from participants to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation.

 

In this talk she explained the following points: -

• Organ donation types and who can be a donor
• The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
• She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
• Difference between natural death and brain death
• Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
• Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants and how they became a legacy
• Importance of Donor card
• How to pledge their organs and they can register at MOHAN Foundation
• MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

The awareness talk ended with a vote of thanks by the JCO Sh. Narang Singh. He encouraged the Cadets to aware and spread message of organ donation. The entire group got motivated and was an interactive session. All the questioned have been answeredafter the presentation and 30 donor cards were picked upby the cadets along with the ANO’s.

 

In the end they showed great interest and would like to do more programs with MOHAN Foundation.
