On April 21, 2017, MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for doctors, nursing and paramedical staff and senior members of Resident Welfare Association at Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital, Kaushambi Ghaziabad. Mr R. N. Arora (Director, Social Welfare) took the initiative to organise the session. Earlier on April 1, 2017, he had invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct a session for the employees of UP Jal Nigam, Ganga Jal Water Works, the office from where he had retired few months back.

 

Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital is a name synonymous with advanced world class patient care in Delhi NCR. Having a humble beginning around 12 years ago at Kaushambi, Ghaziabad, the institution has now grown to become a major tertiary care healthcare provider for all walks of life in the region. Presently, it is operational with 200 beds with emphasis on quality, service and excellence in patient care services in a comprehensive manner to every individual.

 

Mr Arora welcomed Dr. Muneet in his inaugural address and invited her to conduct the talk. Dr. Muneet began the session by giving a brief outline of the activities of MOHAN Foundation and gradually shifted her focus to organ donation, the main topic of the session. She explained the concepts in a simple, easily comprehensible manner and involved the participants by giving real life situations thus establishing a good communication with them.

 

The participants asked many queries, to name a few:

The wife has consented for organ donation but the children (above 18 years) have not, can the donation process be taken forward in such a situation?

What is the process for online pledging of organs?

Whom to contact in case of cornea donation in the hospital?

Non communicable diseases like Hypertension and Diabetes, are they a contraindication to organ donation?

Is it possible that tissues can be retrieved in the mortuary while conducting a post mortem in a medico legal case without the consent of the relatives?

Close to 70 participants attended the session and 50 donor cards were picked up.
