MOHAN Foundation was invited by Scientific Publishing Services, T. Nagar, Chennai to conduct an awareness talk for their staff on 23.05.2015. Mr. Karthikeyan took initiative for the event.
Scientific Publishing Services (SPS) is a full-service KPO partner offering services that cater to a broad spectrum of areas in publishing, finance, accounting, marketing, and design requirements of its clients. SPS was started in 1995 as a service provider to the STM (science, technology, and medicine) publishers.
Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Head Quality Assurance Officer and Ms. Kavitha S, Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation were deputed to address the gathering. There were totally 220 participants who attended the programme. There were 7 continuous session starting from 10:30 am to 05:00 pm. A two minute presentation on the need for organ donation was screened before tha talk.
The following topics were discussed during the talk.
1. Concepts of Organ Donation
2. Types of Donors
3. Organs that can be donated after natural and brain death
4. Importance of Donor Card, Statistics of organ donation for Tamilnadu
4. Toll free helpline number and MOHAN Foundation website
5. Tamilnadu organ registry
After that a recipient speech was also screened to understand the value of the donation. Following that, many people raised question related to legal and ethics, authenticity of organ sharing etc. All the queries were answered by the coordinator. 200 staff attended the sessions and 182 signed as an organ donors.
