Women cadets of National Cadet Corps visit MOHAN Foundation to understand Organ Donation

  • On 21st November 2015, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) wing of  Ethiraj College for Women Chennai visited MOHAN Foundation. The first year students were on an exposure visit to learn about organ donation.  

     

    The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde and she introduced the work of MOHAN Foundation. Mr. Prakash K. spoke about the Concepts of Organ Donation. The following topics were covered during the talk:

    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Difference between Brain death and Coma
    • Importance of Donor card and consent from the family
    • Tissues and organs  that can be donated
    • Transplant Coordinators Training Programme
    • Helpline Number  and website as source of information

     

    After the talk on concepts Dr. Hemal conducted a quiz and slogan writing competition for the students and Ms.Sujatha MIS Officer selected best two slogans. Later in the programme prizes were distributed. Totally 30 students participated in the talk and few of them picked donor card.
