Waiting room used as a learning room for organ donation at Transport Office

• MOHAN Foundation was invited by Dr. D. T. Powar, Regional Transport Officer, Giripeth, Nagpur to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for drivers who apply for vehicles registration and driving license on 14th October 2016.

  Mr. Bulu Behera delivered a talk on Organ donation. In his talk he explained the following points:-

  • What is Organ Donation?
  • Who can donate organs?
  • Which organs can be donated during live?

  • Types of organ donation.
  • Donation after natural death, Brain death and while living.
  • THO Act and myths related to organ donation.
  • Deceased donation cases in Nagpur.
  • Kidney transplant hospitals in Nagpur.
  • Importance of Donor card, Helpline number and website.

   

  It was a very interactive session. Approximately 31 drivers were present during the talk. 2 drivers signed consent form and took a donor card.

   

  The Drivers asked the following questions:-

  Why you are doing awareness program?

  Can a Living  person donate a heart?
