  • On March 30, 2016, MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation at Think Link, Gurgaon. Archisha Garg from the HR team coordinated the session.

Think Link is the leading voice in India for the re-imagination of Supply Chains in a connected and on-demand business environment. They work through Supply Chain Engineering, Material Handling automation and Supply Chain Talent Assurance teams to create outsized value for their clients and they do this through Integrated Solution Delivery on an Outcome Based Approach that leads to a Win-Win Shared Risk partnership model with their customers.

Dr. Muneet began the session by enquiring if anyone present in the audience knew about organ donation/donor card/brain death and MOHAN Foundation. Surprisingly many people raised their hands in affirmation. She then introduced the Foundation and shared with them its role and activities.

Then she began her presentation by showing them the demand and supply gap of the organs in our country justifying the need for organ donation. After this, she informed who all can donate organs, types of donation and what all organs can be donated. She explained what brain death is and how it is different from coma or deep coma. She further explained the THOA Act and how brain death is established in a hospital registered for transplantation. Contraindications of organ donation, myths related to it and eye donation was also discussed in detail.

At the end, a four-minute video explaining brain death was shown to the participants.

The talk concluded with queries from the participants that were professionally handled by the Foundation's representatives. Few of the queries that were asked were, if a person is an orphan then who gives consent for organ donation in such a case, if the near relatives or the person in legal possession of the body gives consent at the time of donation then what is the importance of pledging one's organs by signing a donor card and can we do whole body donation and so on.

31 people attended the session and 12 donor cards were picked up.
