Talk on Organ Donation at Samuthaya Makkal Nalamanavar Iyakkam, Sangrapuram

• On 17^th April 2016 a talk on organ donation organized by Samuthaya Makkal Nalamanavar Iyakkam Sangrapuram. The president of this organisation Mr. A. Sambasivam felt that Organ Donation is very meaningful after death so he invited MOHAN Foundation to explain the concept of organ donation to the villagers and Iyakkam Members. Mr. Prakash K, Transplant coordinator MOHAN Foundation facilitated the session.

  The following topics were explained to the group:

  • Importance of organ donation
  • Types of donations – live and deceased donation
  • Difference between Natural Death, Coma and Brain Death
  • Organs that can be donated in cardiac death and drain death
  • Eye donation
  • Preservation time of organs
  • Importance of Donor card and family consent

  Totally 120 members participated in the event and all of them took donor cards. Later in the event the president promised that here after it will be a regular event in their future activities and thanked MOHAN Foundation team. It was more of  a community event
