Sudhesi Friends Club celebrates Independence Day with a message on Organ Donation

  Sudhesi Friends Club Members supported the Noble cause by signing Donor Card

  On 15^th Aug 2014, Sudhesi Friends Club Pulianthope, Chennai requested Cadaver Transplant Programme to display a stall on Organ Donation at Pulianthope. The organizer K.M. Parthasarathy said that they have been conducting different awareness programmes on this occasion of Independence Day so this year they wanted to promote Organ Donation and Blood Donation. Mr. Prakash K. Transplant Coordinators MOHAN Foundation, Chennai was deputed for this duty and  set up a stall for the occasion.

  The Transplant Coordinator explained the following topics to the visitors.

  • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
  • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
  • Importance of the consent from the family
  • Difference between Brain death, Coma and Natural Death
  •  Importance of  Donor card 
  • Helpline number

  Around 45 youths visited the stall, asked several questions and all the queries were answered than totally 30 people donated blood & 25 people picked donor cards and supported the cause by pledging their organs and picking donor cards.
