Students of Daniel Thomas School, Arumbakkam enjoy a quiz on organ donation

  • As part of the Times of India campaign on Organ Donation, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the principal of Daniel Thomas Higher Secondary School, Arumbakkam, to conduct an awareness session on Organ Donation. The session was conducted on August 5th 2016, in the school audio visual room for 9th and 11th standard students. Around 270 students and 6 teachers attended the talk.  MOHAN Foundation was represented by Dr. Hemal.  Mr. Karthik from Times of India organised the session.

    A few film clips were shown at the beginning. Dr. Hemal gave a talk on the concepts of organ donation. In her talk she explained the importance of good health, need for organs, types of deaths and types of donors.  She said that Tamil Nadu leads the way in organ donation. She explained the value of a donor card and gave information on the helpline and website of MOHAN Foundation.

    In the Q & A Session the students discussed the causes of organ failure, hospitals that do organ donation and about the stories of children being kidnapped whether their organs were taken forcefully? 

    The talk was followed by a Quiz on Organ Donation, in which all students took part with full energy.  All students who answered were rewarded with a donor badge.  The school thanked MOHAN Foundation for the effort.
