St. Theresa’s Church introduces Organ donation to its congregation

Updated on Monday, September 26, 2016
  • St. Theresa’s Church, Perambur had their Annual Feast and on 25th September 2016, Rev. Fr. Joseph Albert invited MOHAN Foundation to give a talk about organ donation after the sermon and to put up a stall. MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mr. Periyanayagam and Ms. Ann.

Mr. Periyanayagam explained about organ donation the types of brain death, age factor, who can donate, organs which could be donated. He then officially handed over donor cards and brochures to Father and was blessed by Father. The donor cards and brochures would be kept at the parish for those who wished to pledge their organs in the coming days. A member of the parish then prayed for all the members who had already pledged to donate their organs.

Around 800 people were present for the programme. Many people came to the stall with queries and to pledge their organs. Around 100 people picked up a donor card. The feast will continue for a few more days, and more people would be able to pick up a donor card at the parish.

We thank Rev. Fr. Joseph Albert for giving us the opportunity and Mr. Henric Peter for organising the programme.
