Sensitization program for nurses of Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur

  • MOHAN Foundation Nagpur center was invited by Mrs. Sanghamitra P. Patil of Lata Mangeshkar Hospital on October 26th November 2014 to sensitize nurses on their role in multi-organ donation.       

     

    The program had the followings sessions

    Welcome address and Introduction. - Hospital director Dr.  Dayfod introduced Dr. Ravi Wankhede and  the activities of MOHAN Foundation to the participating nurses.

     

    Organ donation concepts  - Dr. Ravi Wankhede gave a comprehensive overview on organ donation with special  emphasis on the following topics:

    • Need for organ donation & Organ donation rate in India
    • Types of donation (live and after death)
    • Concept of brain death
    • Role of nurses in early identification of brain death
    • Functions of ZTCC & Importane of THO act
    • Important of doctors for organ donation
    • MOHAN Foundation activities & progress of organ donation in southern states of India
    • Priority of organ & myths surrounding organ donation.

     

    Question answer session.

    1. If there is a death at home whom to contact for Eye donation?

    2. What is the time duration of organ transplant?

    3. What is the time duration for skin donation?

    4. Can diabetic donate kidney?

    Totally 25 nurses participated in the talk and 1 participant signed the consent form. Mrs. Sanghamitra P. Patil gave a vote of thanks to Dr. Ravi Wankhede.
