Sensitization on Organ Donation for the nurses of Kauvery Hospital, Chennai

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited for sensitizing 36 nurses on Organ Donation by Kauvery Hospital, Alwarpet on 27th July 2017 at 12.00PM. Mr. Siva Shankar, Ms. Sunitha and Mr. Jayaprakash represented MOHAN Foundation.

    Firstly the ribbons were issued to all the nurses in support of Organ Donation and a game was conducted to make the participants come into the topic on Organ Donation. Before that Mr. Siva Shankar gave an introduction speech about MOHAN Foundation and its activities. Followed by Mr. Jayaprakash started with a game called CONNECTION. The game was about movies some aspect of Organ and Tissue Donation.

    Mr. Jayaprakash continued with the concepts of Organ donation and need for Organ Donation in our country. The topics that were discussed:

    1. Activities of TRANSTAN
    2. What is the difference in Brain Death and COMA
    3. What are the organs that can be donated?
    4. Types of Donation
    5. What is DONOR Card

    Followed by Ms. Sunitha, Transplant Coordinator started with the Deceased Organ Donation protocol and Role of Transplant Coordinator for Donor and Recipient family. Everything was explained properly to the participants. She showed the flow chart on how from Brain Death to Organ Donation step by step process. Everyone understood it properly.

    Mr. Siva Shankar ended the program with question? Who wants to donate their organs after death? Every one raised their hands and 21 nurses got their donor cards.
