  • A sensitization session was organized in Holy Family Hospital, Okhla Road, New Delhi on August 23, 2014 for the nurses of the Holy Family School of Nursing. The session was conducted by Sonam Choeden and she was accompanied by Deepa Anant.

The Holy Family Hospital is a general hospital run by the Delhi Arch Diocese and registered as a charitable non-profit registered body under the Societies' Act of 1860. The chief contact person from Holy Family Hospital Ms. Malar (General Nursing & Midwifery Coordinator)had shown an immense amount of enthusiasm when Sonam had enquired if an awareness session be conducted in the hospital for the nurses. The same level of enthusiasm was reflected among the participants as 138 nurses attended the session.

The session began at 1:30 and started off with Sonam explaining the gravity of the cause of organ donation and the necessity for hospital staff to be better informed about it. She took a pre awareness survey and it was noted that most of the participants had prior information about organ donations as well as Brain death though many of them did not know much about Donor cards.

The phenomenon of Brain death was taken up in detail and was further elaborated upon with the help of a video that was appreciated a lot for the information it provided. The myths and facts surrounding organ donations were also addressed.

At the end of the session, Sister Annie (Vice Principal) formally thanked the MOHAN foundation team for conducting the session.

138 nurses attended the session and 70 donor cards were picked up in all with a request for more fliers and donor cards for the hospital.
