Sengupta Hospital, Nagpur encourages its nurses to learn about organ donation

  • On 12th November 2014, Sengupta Hospital, Ravi Nagar Square, Nagpur invited MOHAN Foundation

    to speak  on organ donation  to sensitize their nursing staff. Mr. Nitikanta Nanwatkar, chief executive of administrative department of the hospital initiated the activity.

     

    Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator conducted the session.  He spoke on the concepts of organs and tissue donation. He highlighted the facts about brain death and the need to donate organs.  He mentioned the importance of nurses in early identification of brain death and in understanding the grief of the family.  

     

    Question raised by participants

    1)       Like liver which organ can be grow in body?

    2)       For how much time we can maintain brain dead patient?

    3)       What is the time duration in each organ for transplant?

     

    Approximately 20 participants participated in that program & 2 picked the donor card.  The rest promised to discuss with their family and deliver the filled registration form to Nagpur office.
