SBT’s Ex-employees, employees and their family sensitized on organ donation at Kollam, Kerala

  • On 1st May, 2014 to mark the Annual Day Celebration, the Recreational Organization of State Bank of Tranvancore Ex-employees & employees (ROSE) an organization invited Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala Network for Organ Sharing (KNOS) to deliver a talk on organ donation. The event was held at Kollam, Kerala.

     

    The programme started with a welcome address by Mr. Gopakumar, Joint Secretary, ROSE. Followed by Mr. Aneesh P V, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Trivandrum made a detailed presentation to increase the awareness of the audience about organ donation. In his presentation he covered the following topics, what is organ donation, types of organ donation, the difference between brain death, natural death and coma, the legal formalities involved in deceased organ donation, religious myths about organ donation, about Mrithasanjeevani and KNOS and about the importance of pledging by signing a donor card.

     

    The audience actively participated in the event and few of the queries that were raised were - how to register for kidney transplantation and the role of Mrithasanjeevani in allocating organs.

     

    Around 100 people participated in the event and every single one of them signed the donor card. At the end; the vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Ansul J, Treasurer, ROSE
