Updated on Monday, July 14, 2014
  • To commemorate International Java Day on 13 July 2014, a group of java and yezdi riders called  Roaring Riders took up the cause of Organ Donation.  With T shirts blazing with the cause, green ribbons on their chests and stickers on their helmets the Riders rode more than 50 kms from Tiruvanmiyur to Padi Junction and ahead to Old Airstrip at Sholavaram accompanied by MOHAN Foundation staff. This event was spearheaded by Mr. Srinivasan Kashyap of Roaring Riders. Mr Prabhat Toshnival, a car and bike enthusiast and a  Trustee of MOHAN Foundation came to the rally to encourage MOHAN Foundation and the bikers.

At Padi Junction the MLA of Ambattur Mr. S. Vedhachellam, officially flagged the rally. At the end point MOHAN Foundation  staff Ms Kavitha S.  and Mr Mainkandan distributed information flyers and set up an information stall. The riders were told about the value of a donor card and the importance of informing the family about their decision on organ donation. The police  in the police vehicle accompanying the rally also took an interest and stuck a sticker on their vehicle.

    Some queries were:

Is this different from eye donor card?

What is the process of donation?

Can the family benefit from a donation?

, 86 riders and their friends participated in the celebrations.  Of these 42 riders pledged their organs and took a donor card. Many of them picked the helpline stickers to promote the helpline number 1800 4193737.
