Rally and Exhibition at Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital as part of National Organ Donation Day celebrations

  • A one week program programme was organized by TRANSTAN, Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital (GKMC) and MOHAN Foundation to celebrate National Organ Donation day.  This was done to sensitize the stakeholders and the general public on the importation of organ donation and transplantation.

    In Kilpauk Medical College and hospital, on 26th November 2016 a rally was flagged off by Dr. Leela, Vice Principal GKMC, and Dr. Thirunavukkarasu, Medical Superintendent and Dr. Balaraman Nephrology, HOD were present in the occasion.  The day started with a rally from college to hospital with participation of nursing students, HODs, Doctors and non medical staff of GKMC. The students were holding placards highlighting on the importation of organ donation. The rally was done during peak hour traffic so that there was a greater impact.

    Totally 285 nursing students and 50 medical and non medical staff participated in the rally and sensitized the general public on the noble cause.

    The Exhibition on Organ Donation and Transplantation were inaugurated by a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony by Dr. Leela. The exhibition was visited by Medical and Non Medical Staff. The highlight of the exhibition was the Green Corridor model.

    Nearly 350 students, Doctors, and staff were sensitized on the concepts of organ donation and transplantation.
