Organ donation awareness talk conducted at V.K School, Panvel, Navi Mumbai

  • On 8th August 2018, MOHAN Foundation Mumbai was invited by Dr.Jayshree Patil (Vice President of Rotary club) to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for all the teaching staff at V.K school and K.E.S (both English and Marathi medium).

    Mrs. Jigisha Yadav began by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission, objectives and history. She then asked them whatcame to their minds when they thought of organ donation.

    The conceptsrelating to organ donation were explained - types of death, types of organs that can be donated after brain death and tissues donation after cardiac death, difference between brain death and coma, etc. She also discussed the various myths and facts for organ donation. Information about organ allocation, and distribution were also shared.  Lastly an inspirational 2‑minute video was shown.

    There were around 400 people in the audience and an appeal was made to them to take the online pledge on 9th of August 2018, as part of Rotary club’sGuinness world record attempt on maximum online pledges to be an organ donor. This attempt has been supported by MOHAN Foundation.
