Organ donation awareness at Narayana Mutispeciality Hospital, Jaipur

  • On May 16, 2015, MOHAN Foundation – Jaipur Citizens Forum (MFJCF) conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Narayana Mutispeciality Hospital, Jaipur. In Jaipur, Pratap Nagar based Narayana Mutispeciality is a well known hospital in Medicine, Pediatrics, Ortho, ENT, Dental, General and Gynecology specialization.  It is a 200 bedded and well equipped hospital which serves the general public. 

     

    Mrs. Sujata Baheti, Volunteer, MFJCF introduced the Organisation MFJCF and Organ donation project and explained why we the people need awareness activity in hospitals.

     

    Mr. Utpal Rajoria, Project Manager explained the concepts of organ donation and transplantation primarily focusing on the types of donations, how to diagnose brain death, tissue donation, the Transplant Law of India and statistics on the said subject. A short film on brain death was shown. The session was conducted in an interactive manner where the participants chipped in with their views on recent coverage of organ donation stories in the media and also with unhesitant inquiries throughout.

     

    The pictures and stories of few of our donors were also shown which the participants related. Dr Kamal Kaswan, senior consultant, Nephrologist and Dr Abhishek, consultant, Nephrologist  also filled the pledge form with staff and spoke few words in favour of organ donation.

     

    30 participants attended the session and 15 donor cards were picked up.
