Organ Donation awareness session at Orange City Hospital, Nagpur

  • Orange City Hospital & Research Centre, Transplant co-ordinator Mrs. Manjari Damle and Nagpur Mahila Club Members invited MOHAN Foundation to give a talk on deceased organ donation. The talk was organised at the Orange City Hospital Seminar hall, on 28th September 2013, to sensitize Mahila Club Members & the staff of Orange City Hospital. About 50 people attended the session.

     

    Dr. Ravi Wankhede, Director Nagpur Centre of MOHAN Foundation gave a presentation about Organ Donation & Transplantation. He said that a brain death person can never come back to life.  It is possible for the relatives of the brain death patient to consent to donate the organs of their loved one. The points covered by Dr. Wankhede were:

    1)      Brain Death & Natural Death & Coma

    2)      Organ & tissue after brain death and after cardiac death

    3)      Live Donation and its types

    4)      1st degree & 2nd degree relation

    5)      Key aspects of the Organ Donation  Law

    6)      Activities of MOHAN Foundation

    7)      Importance of Donor Card

    8)      Toll free helpline number

     

    The talk was followed by lively discussion.

    Can a donated liver be donated again?

    If anyone wants to donate eye then whom to call?

     

    The  Nagpur Mahila Club Member thanked Dr. Ravi Wankhede and the staff of MOHAN Foundation for their time and effort.
