On 10th Oct 2017, The Angels of Change volunteers of C.T.T.E College for Women, Perambur, Chennai conducted an organ donation awareness event in the campus as part of their training.
The objectives of the event was
Programs planned were:
1 - Announcement in assembly - The information about the program was given to the students by the Principal clearly through an announcement in the assembly on the same day, at 8:15 AM.
2 - Interacting with students in classes - The ANGELS directly went to the classrooms of 1st and 2nd year and spoke to the students about organ donation to give a complete picture about donation and transplantation. In their talk all angels spoke of the important of organ donation and its need, process etc. The students understood the concept and they asked many doubts. There was a good interaction between Angels and students while giving public talk.
The answers to the student’s doubts were given and encouraged them to register their name as an organ donor.
3 - Setting a registration desk - As per the plan, at 11:30 am a registration table was ready and the angels manned the desk. Many students were very enthusiastic and approached the registration desk. Some students solved their doubts and some students registered their name as an organ donor. Some of them asked for some time to get their parents to approach.
At finally including lecturers and students, 85 registered their names and to make them feel proud, they were given green ribbons and pamphlets, donor cards and asked to share the information with their relations.
Learnings
v Angels learnt how to modify the program according to the situation.
v Division of work and responsibilities for every angel
v How to talk with audience and clear their doubts.
Angels who organized the vent were - Subathirai, Kanchana, Vijayalashmi & Neelaveni. A. They are planning to speak to the seniors (3rd years) in their college.
