Organ Donation Awareness talk for farmers and students of agriculture

  • On 12th December 2014 Centre for Sericulture & Biological Pest Management Research  invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct Deceased Organ Donation awareness program at their institute for the trainee farmers & students.

     

         Mr. Bulu Behera, transplant co-coordinator of MOHAN Foundation gave the information about Live and  Deceased donation, THO Act & difference between in coma & brain death. He helped them to understand difference between tissue & organ donation.

    Question raised by participant are given below.

    1)     What is the time duration for organ donation after brain death?

    2)     Can a recipient become an organ donor?

    3)     What is the process for eye donation?

    4)     What is the age limit for organ donation?

    20 participants attended  the program & 5 signed the pledge form and picked donor cards.

     

    A participant said in the month of November he lost his uncle because of brain death at GMC hospital Nagpur, but he told before this they don’t know about deceased donation. If he knew then he could have donated his uncle’s organ.
