Organ Donation Awareness talk for Women’s Self Help Group supported by Suryoday Small Finance Bank

  • On 20.07.2018, Mr. Bharanidharan (CSR) of Suryoday Small Finance Bank invited MOHAN Foundation to deliver an awareness talk on organ donation. It was for their women group members under the Joint Liabilities group people. Around 50 women participated in the program held at the office in Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli.

     

    Mr. Ilamurugu M, Transplant Coordinator MOHAN Foundation deputed to Government Hospital, Tirunelveli delivered a talk on Organ Donation. In his talk he explained the following points:

    • Importance of Organ Donation to save a life
    • Difference between Brain Death, Natural Death and Coma
    • What is Organ Donation?
    • Why, Who, How and when of Organ donation
    • Type of Organ Donations
    • Law in India on Organ Donation and Transplantation.
    • Myths and facts related to Organ donation.
    • Age criteria for Organ Donation.
    • Donor Card and Helpline Number.

    About 52 women attended the session & 5 of them registered as donors and took donor cards.

     

    Questions:

    1.Can we donate organs after natural death?

    2.Can a person donate their cornea while they are alive?

    3.Why can’t we donate our heart after natural death?
