Organ Donation Awareness session for drivers at Transport Office

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Dr. D. T. Powar, Regional Transport Officer, Giripeth, Nagpur to conduct an awareness session on organ donation on 28 October 2016. It was for drivers who apply for vehicle registration and driving license and was held in the waiting room of the transport office.

    Mr. Bulu Behera represented MOHAN Foundation and delivered a talk on Organ donation. In his talk he explained the following points:-

    • What is Organ Donation and the need for organs.
    • Who can donate organs?
    • Donation of tissues and organs while living and after death.
    • Difference between Natural death, Brain death and Coma.
    • Myths related to Organ donation.
    • Importance of Donor card, Helpline number and website.
    • Organ donors of Nagpur

    It was a very interactive session. Approximately 30 drivers were present during the talk. 2 drivers took the donor card.

     

    The Drivers asked the following questions:-

     Whom to contact for Organ Donation?

    Why can’t organs be sold?  

    What is the benefit for the donor family?
