Organ Donation Awareness program for Interns in Dialysis Department of Madras Medical Mission

  • MOHAN Foundation Puducherry conducted an organ awareness program for the interns of Dialysis department, Madras Medical Mission college on 2nd September 2016. The 10 students are doing their internship in the dialysis dept of Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences hospital.

    The session began with the introductory speech by Mr. Ajith, Manager Dialysis Department about the MOHAN Foundation.  Mr. Ruban addressed the students. The session was planned in an interactive way, where more question and answers interspersed the talk. Coming from the medical background the students were able to understand the differences between live and un related transplant. The students showed more interest in the ischemic time of the organs, how it is transplanted between the hours. The concept of green corridor and organ allocation were discussed.

    The session ended with the Mr. Ajith talking about the role of MOHAN foundation, how it is serving the community. He also insisted on how the students can bring changes in it and contribute to the noble cause. He requested the students to think about the cause and discuss about organ donation in the next class.

    Can a CKD patient who is brain dead, can he/she donate his organs?

    What is the HB level needed to donate blood?

    Can O positive donor donate organs to other blood group?
