Updated on Saturday, March 31, 2018
  • MOHAN Foundation, jointly with Jupiter Hospital (Thane) addressed an audience of 150 students and Innerwheel Club members at A P Shah Institute of Technology, Thane on 7th March 2018.

Mrs. Jaya Jairam started the talks by asking the audience as to what thoughts came to their minds when they thought of Organ Donation. The audience responded with positive as well as negative thoughts and views. She explained that the idea behind this session was to precisely throw light on facts about Organ Donation. She went on to explain what a wonderfully noble deed it is because it saves so many lives. She shared her own story of how her life was saved by her mother’s selfless act of kidney donation.

Mr. Anirudha Kulkarni, Senior Transplant Coordinator at Jupiter Hospital thereafter went on to explain what organ donation was, why was it essential, types of death, what is brain death and what are the definitive tests in determining brain death and which of the organs and tissues can be donated.

Many queries were raised including queries about the difference between coma and brain death, whether organs could be donated by persons suffering from BP or diabetes and all of them were answered to everyone’s satisfaction.

Mrs. Jaya Jairam concluded by inviting the students to enrol themselves to volunteer for the cause and many students, including the Innerwheel Club members expressed interest.

MOHAN Foundation conveys its gratitude to Mr. Anirudha Kulkarni, Jupiter Hospital, Innerwheel Club organising members and the management of A P Shah Institute of Technology.
