Organ Donation Awareness at a Management Studies Institute

  • On October 3rd 2018, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk on organ donation at Priyadarshini Lokmanya Tilak Institution of Management Studies and Research, Hingna road, Nagpur. The audience was Masters of Business Administration students, and the speaker was Dr. Ravi Wankhede, accompanied by Mr. Bulu Behera from MOHAN Foundation. Professors Rahul Kapale and Snehal Khadge from the institute were also present at the session.

    The session started with a PowerPoint presentation and a video on organ donation. Dr. Ravi Wankhede asked the participants a few questions to know their level of understanding of organ donation. He then explained the reason for organ donation becoming the need of the hour and why European countries have higher organ donation rates than India.

    Dr. Wankhede than emphasized the importance of eye donation and motivated the participants to promote it individually. Myths related to eye donation and organ donation in general were discussed and the corresponding reality checks were given.

    The participants had the following questions:

    • What is the age limit for eye donation?
    • Organs that could be donated by people when alive
    • Whom to contact for eye donation following death?

    The session ended with a motivational video on organ donation. Approximately 60 students attended the session. Ms. Priya K.Gidwani, a II year MBA student thanked MOHAN Foundation and the participants.
