Organ Donation Awareness Talk at National Academy of Direct Taxes, Nagpur

  • Dr. Ravi Wankhede, Director, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur was invited to give a talk on Awareness of Organ Donation and Transplantation to  about 200 IRS trainees at National Academy of Direct Taxes at Nagpur 12th October 2017 at 4 pm.

    Present on the occasion were Mr. Sanjay Dhariwal the Course Director, Dr. Vishaka Singh, Sadanad Bhve IAS and about 100 trainee officers. In the beginning Dr. Singh introduced Dr. Wankhede to the audience. Dr. Ravi Wankhede gave a Powerpoint Presentation explaining the importance and the need to donate organs and tissues especially after brain death. He showed the short clipping of Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi speaking on the subject in the 13th edition of “Mann ki baat”. He spoke on social, medical, religious and legal aspects. He exhorted the trainee officers who form the cream of bureaucracy of the country to take forward the message to their place of work in the country. He gave example of Mr. Sanjay Dubey the DC of Indore who has spearheaded the movement bringing the city and State into prominence.

    After the presentation few questions were asked by the trainee officers such as cost factor especially to the economically marginalized section of the society, relevance of the donor cards in States who are not carrying out transplantation. The audience enjoyed singing the song kisiki muskurahaton pe ho nisar from the film Anari led by Dr. Ravi Wankhede who had the lyrics displayed on the screen and music track playing through audio file.

    After the talk, Dr. Wankhede presented a mouse pad of MOHAN Foundation to Mr. Sanjay Dhariwal. He was given the E-donor app to pledge online. He promptly did so and said “the app is very user friendly….”.  He forwarded the App to the official WhatsApp group of officers trainees.

    Dr. Vishaka Singh proposed a vote of thanks to Dr. Ravi Wankhede.
